Two-factor authentication protects against phishing, social engineering and password brute-force attacks and secures your logins from attackers exploiting weak or stolen credentials.
This dramatically improves the security of login attempts and has also been shown to block nearly all automated bot-related attacks.

In order to ensure you will always be able to authenticate your account, it is necessary to have two methods to authenticate with.
Follow the steps below to set up an authenticator app as well as your phone number as a backup.
You can connect to school wifi, if desired, to ensure you will get authenticator notifications. This can also help if you are in a part of the building that has poor cellular coverage.
Connect your smartphone to BVPS wifi using the network mobile1.
Visit your Microsoft Security Info page on your laptop by clicking here (https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info).
Click Add sign-in method.
The preferred authenticator app for Microsoft services is Microsoft Authenticator (iPhone / Android). However, you are welcome to use whatever authenticator app you prefer.
Begin by clicking “Choose a method,” followed by Authenticator app.
Click Add.
<aside> ⚠️ If you want to use an authenticator app that is not Microsoft Authenticator, you will need to click “I want to use a different authenticator app” and follow those directions. Otherwise, the following screens will only be for Microsoft Authenticator.

Otherwise, click “Next.”
If going with Microsoft Authenticator, notifications will need to be allowed in order for login attempts to be properly displayed. Click “Next.”
