<aside> ⚠️ As of October 29, 2023, there is no fix for having to authenticate each time you login to PowerSchool. Hopefully this will be resolved by PowerSchool in the near future.

Why Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?

Two-factor authentication protects against phishing, social engineering and password brute-force attacks and secures your logins from attackers exploiting weak or stolen credentials.

This dramatically improves the security of login attempts and has also been shown to block nearly all automated bot-related attacks.

Prepare for Two-Factor Authentication

In order to ensure you will always be able to authenticate your account, it is necessary to have two methods to authenticate with.

Follow the steps below to set up an authenticator app as well as your phone number as a backup.

#1 - Connect to School Wifi (optional)

You can connect to school wifi, if desired, to ensure you will get authenticator notifications. This can also help if you are in a part of the building that has poor cellular coverage.

Connect your smartphone to BVPS wifi using the network mobile1.

#2 - Visit Your Microsoft Security Info Page

  1. Visit your Microsoft Security Info page on your laptop by clicking here (https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info).

  2. Click Add sign-in method.

#3 - Set Up an Authenticator App

The preferred authenticator app for Microsoft services is Microsoft Authenticator (iPhone / Android). However, you are welcome to use whatever authenticator app you prefer.

  1. Begin by clicking “Choose a method,” followed by Authenticator app.

  3. Otherwise, click “Next.”
